{"id":47169,"date":"2023-06-07T18:50:29","date_gmt":"2023-06-07T15:50:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/eu-court-throws-out-belarusian-tycoons-lawsuit\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"eu-court-throws-out-belarusian-tycoons-lawsuit","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/47169\/","title":{"rendered":"EU court throws out Belarusian tycoon\u2019s lawsuit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>June 7, <span>BPN.<\/span> <\/b>The European Union&#8217;s&nbsp;top court has rejected a lawsuit by a Belarusian tycoon who challenged his inclusion on the bloc&#8217;s&nbsp;sanctions list over the crackdown on civil society in his country. <\/p>\n<p> The Court of Justice&nbsp;said that Alaksandr \u0160akucin was one of the main beneficiaries of privatization under Alaksandr \u0141uka\u0161enka and had close links to his government and loyalist groups. <\/p>\n<p> It also cited \u0160akucin\u2019s public condemnation of the protests and his attendance at \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s secretive inauguration ceremony in 2020 as evidence of his support for the regime. <\/p>\n<p> The court dismissed \u0160akucin\u2019s arguments and ordered him to pay the litigation fees. <\/p>\n<p>The European Union imposed sanctions on \u0160akucin and some other Belarusian businesspeople&nbsp;and officials&nbsp;in December 2020.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>June 7, BPN.
