{"id":47552,"date":"2023-07-06T16:42:00","date_gmt":"2023-07-06T13:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/activist-sent-from-mental-health-center-to-detention-facility-husband\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"activist-sent-from-mental-health-center-to-detention-facility-husband","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/47552\/","title":{"rendered":"Activist sent from mental health center to detention facility \u2013 husband"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>July 6, <span>BPN.<\/span><\/b>&nbsp;Prison system officers are transferring activist Palina \u0160arenda-Panasiuk from a national mental health center to Minsk&#8217;s first detention facility on Va\u0142adarskaha Street after psychiatric tests, her husband has said on Facebook.<\/p>\n<p> Andrej \u0160arenda&nbsp;wrote that the transfer, weeks in police vans in the heat, might further undermine her health. <\/p>\n<p> \u0160arenda-Panasiuk&#8217;s sentence is due to end on August 6, but the husband believes she will not be freed and will be re-sentenced. &#8220;In this way, Palina&#8217;s imprisonment becomes eternal,&#8221; he wrote.<\/p>\n<p> In June 2021, a court in Brest sentenced \u0160arenda-Panasiuk, a European Belarus campaigner, to two years&#8217; imprisonment for a scuffle with a police officer during a raid on her home, and for allegedly insulting police and the head of state. Ten months later, a court in Homiel sentenced her to an additional year for defying police orders.<\/p>\n<p> In May, her husband said she was sent to an unknown medical facility for psychiatric examination.
