{"id":47675,"date":"2023-07-18T20:28:27","date_gmt":"2023-07-18T17:28:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/ep-foreign-affairs-committee-urges-icc-to-issue-arrest-warrant-for-lukasenka\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"ep-foreign-affairs-committee-urges-icc-to-issue-arrest-warrant-for-lukasenka","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/47675\/","title":{"rendered":"EP Foreign Affairs Committee urges ICC to issue arrest warrant for \u0141uka\u0161enka"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n <b>July 18,&nbsp;<span>BPN<\/span>.<\/b>&nbsp;The European Parliament&#8217;s Foreign Affairs Committee on July 18 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/news\/en\/press-room\/20230717IPR03019\/belarus-meps-alarmed-that-russia-is-suffocating-its-neighbour-s-identity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">urged<\/a> the International Criminal Court (ICC) to issue an arrest warrant for Alaskander \u0141uka\u0161enka.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t Belarus is responsible for damage caused to and crimes committed in Ukraine, MEPs pointed out, including through the regime\u2019s role in the illegal transfers of children.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t With the ICC already having issued arrest warrants for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian Children\u2019s Rights Commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova, MEPs call on the court to consider a similar arrest warrant for \u0141uka\u0161enka, the statement says.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t The report is to be put to vote in the European Parliament in September.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t MEPs noted the rampant political, economic, military and cultural subordination of Belarus to Moscow, rendering the country a de-facto satellite state that also hosts tactical nuclear weapons under Russian command.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t They called on the EU not to recognize any agreements made by the \u0141uka\u0161enka regime and Russia that cede the country\u2019s sovereignty against the will of the Belarusian people.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t \u201cThe EU must also develop a common strategy for preserving Belarus\u2019 independence and for Belarus\u2019 transition to democracy, with the participation of international institutions, the OSCE, the Council of Europe and the G7,\u201d the statement says.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>July 18,&nbsp;BPN.&nbsp;The European Parliament&#8217;s Foreign Affairs Committee on July 18 urged the International Criminal Court (ICC) to issue an arrest warrant for Alaskander \u0141uka\u0161enka.
