{"id":47713,"date":"2023-07-22T12:14:18","date_gmt":"2023-07-22T09:14:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/supreme-court-to-hear-liquidation-lawsuit-against-republican-party-on-august-8\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"supreme-court-to-hear-liquidation-lawsuit-against-republican-party-on-august-8","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/47713\/","title":{"rendered":"Supreme Court to hear liquidation lawsuit against Republican Party on August 8"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n <b>July 22,&nbsp;<span>BPN<\/span>.<\/b>&nbsp;The Supreme Court will hear on August 8 the justice ministry\u2019s lawsuit to shut down the Republican Party, according to the court\u2019s electronic schedule.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t Registered in May 1994, the party declared its mission to \u201crestore and create a strong, sovereign, humane, democratic state with sufficient degree of integration with the former Soviet Union republics and Western countries.\u201d It advocated \u201cstrict compliance with human rights.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t The party has not been active in the last few years.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t On July 20, the Supreme Court was scheduled to consider the liquidation of the nationalist Conservative Christian Party. The results of the hearing are unknown.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t On July 24, it will consider closing the pro-government Belarusian Patriotic Party. On July 27 and 31, it will examine closure lawsuits against the Belarusian Social Democratic Hramada and the Belarusian Green Party.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t In late 2022, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka called for disbanding parties whose activities run counter to \u201cthe basic principles of internal and foreign policy.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t In February 2023, he signed a law requiring all parties to re-register based on more rigorous membership criteria.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t The justice ministry has already re-registered the pro-government Communist Party of Belarus, Liberal Democratic Party, the Republican Party of Labor and Justice and Bie\u0142aja Ru\u015b.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t Opposition parties refused to identify their members for fear of political reprisals.
