November 13, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja and Lithuania’s Prime Minister Ingrida \u0160imonyt\u0117 have contributed an article about Belarusians’ and Lithuanians’ joint efforts to defend freedom and democracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Published on Delfi.lt<\/a><\/em>, the article’s timing coincided with statements by Lithuanian politicians, including President Gitanas Naus\u0117da, about plans to restrict Belarusian nationals’ rights and a negative reaction from members of the Lithuanian Seimas to the interior ministry\u2019s proposal to extend the validity of residence permits for Belarusians. Some politicians and members of the public in Lithuania are reportedly concerned about \u201cmanifestations of Litvinism\u201d \u2013 alleged claims by Belarusians to Lithuanian territories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusians and Lithuanians together stand up to the aggression of authoritarian regimes, Cichano\u016dskaja and \u0160imonyt\u0117 stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
