{"id":5289,"date":"2023-09-13T14:30:00","date_gmt":"2023-09-13T11:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/?post_type=articles&#038;p=5289"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","slug":"eu-court-rejects-synesis-lawsuit-against-sanctions-reports","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/5289\/","title":{"rendered":"EU court rejects Synesis&#8217; lawsuit against sanctions \u2013 reports"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>September 13,\u00a0<em>Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong>\u00a0Synesis, a Belarusian IT-company, and its owner Alaksandar \u0160atro\u016d have lost an appeal against the European Union&#8217;s sanctions,\u00a0<em>Deutsche Welle\u00a0<\/em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/dw_belarus\/9666\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Court of Justice of the European Union dropped the company\u2019s lawsuit against the EU Council, noting that Synesis had provided Belarusian authorities with facial recognition software used to identify and persecute regime critics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In March, a court in London dismissed a similar lawsuit by Synesis to overturn sanctions imposed by the British Foreign Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Synesis has been under the EU sanctions since December 2020. In May 2022, the company was sanctioned by New Zealand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Surveillance is extensive in Belarus, where Synesis\u2019 Kipod facial recognition software is connected to nearly 13,000 cameras across the country.
