September 13,\u00a0Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong>\u00a0The future of Belarus “is closely connected with the future of Europe,” Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja has stressed in her speech at the European Parliament’s (EP) plenary session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, the Kremlin is waging a “quiet war” against Belarus to turn it “into yet another servile Russian colony,” while Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka is “selling our independence piece by piece,” she noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The politician asked MEPs to help bring the Belarusian ruler to justice. Noting the heroism and resilience of ordinary Belarusians as they stand up for the independence of their country, she reminded MEPs of the Belarusian opposition’s strategic goals of Belarus’ accession to the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cichano\u016dskaja also urged MEPs to support a resolution sponsored by Petras Au\u0161trevi\u010dius, permanent rapporteur on Belarus, recognizing Belarusian European aspirations. She also proposed institutionalizing ties between the EP and Belarusian opposition before the upcoming EP elections scheduled for June 2024.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
