{"id":53567,"date":"2023-12-05T20:19:19","date_gmt":"2023-12-05T17:19:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/?post_type=articles&#038;p=53567"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","slug":"cichanouskaja-calls-on-usa-to-develop-plan-to-support-independence-efforts","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/53567\/","title":{"rendered":"Cichano\u016dskaja calls on USA to develop plan to support independence efforts"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>December 5, <em>Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja has called on Americans to develop a plan to support Belarusians&#8217; efforts to protect independence and restore democracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The US Congress disseminated the Belarusian opposition leader&#8217;s speech ahead of her address to the House Foreign Affairs Committee&#8217;s subcommittee on Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Appointment of a US Special Envoy on Belarus would be a step in this direction,&#8221; Cichano\u016dskaja said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She also called for &#8220;setting up a coalition for independent democratic Belarus in which the US could take a lead.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She suggested that this coalition &#8220;should demand full removal of the Russian military from Belarus,&#8221; &#8220;a complete seizure of any involvement of Belarus in the war against Ukraine,&#8221; help &#8220;counter the Kremlin\u2019s encroachment on Belarusian sovereignty and national identity,&#8221; and to promote sanctions against Russia &#8220;for its illegal attempts to subjugate Belarus and to instrumentalize it in the confrontation with our European neighbors.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cichano\u016dskaja believes it is necessary to create a US-Belarusian working group to develop a strategy for the release of political prisoners and an international foundation to support them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The democratic opposition leader called for increased assistance to Belarusian democratic institutions, civil society, independent media and cultural initiatives.
