The updated extremist content list includes <em>Radyjo Svaboda<\/em> and its social media accounts, <em>Salidarnasc<\/em>, the Belarusian Information Center in Lviv, the <em>belsat_ua<\/em> account in Tiktok, <em>politvyazynka<\/em> in Instagram, and politician Valeryj Cepkala\u2019s Facebook page, as well as the history book <em>\u0413\u043e\u0440\u044c\u043a\u0438\u0435 \u0433\u043e\u0434\u044b: \u0422\u0440\u0430\u0433\u0435\u0434\u0438\u044f \u0417\u0430\u043f\u0430\u0434\u043d\u043e\u0439 \u0411\u0435\u043b\u0430\u0440\u0443\u0441\u0438 1944\u20131954<\/em> (Bitter Years: Tragedy of Western Belarus 1944-54) by Alaksandar Tatarenka. Published in 2017, the book is based on archive documents concerning the operation of the secret police, NKVD, in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Belarusian law enforcers randomly check people&#8217;s phones to see who are they following. Those found to possess or share extremist content are punished by exorbitant fines or short jail sentences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police force some of those arrested to confess to following &#8220;extremist&#8221; content before a video camera and then post forced confessions on Telegram accounts to intimidate the public.
