Lawyers, families, diplomats and representatives of international organizations should have access to them to check on their condition, it said today in a resolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The European Parliament called on the European Union to increase pressure on the government in Minsk by adopting new sanctions and reiterated its call for the punishment of those responsible for human rights violations and war crimes under Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka&#8217;s regime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The resolution received 489 &#8220;Yes&#8221; votes, seven &#8220;No&#8221; votes and 42 abstentions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We can say that this was a joint work of [Belarusian] democratic forces and MEPs. There has been no news from or about Statkievi\u010d for more than 300 days. And now a new wave of raids has begun. We have contacted our European colleagues and they have urgently drafted a resolution. This is an important symbolic support,&#8221; Franak Via\u010dorka, chief adviser to the Belarusian democratic opposition leader, told <em>Pozirk<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The European Parliament adopted its previous resolution on the situation in Belarus on September 13.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>December 14, Pozirk.
