December 16, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong>\u00a0 On December 15, Belarusian border guards discovered two foreigners at the shared border with Latvia, the State Border Committee says. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Latvian law enforcers had detained and beaten both and then left them at the border, the committee claimed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The border committee blamed Latvia’s migration policy for “the deaths of 13 refugees who were seeking protection and assistance in European countries.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Latvian border guards recorded 12 border violations on December 14, a day before the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The migration crisis at the border between Belarus and the European Union started in spring 2021 after Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka, angered by EU sanctions, had indicated that Minsk would not prevent migrants from Africa and Asia from using Belarus as a route to the EU. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
