{"id":57275,"date":"2023-12-23T19:47:10","date_gmt":"2023-12-23T16:47:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/?post_type=articles&#038;p=57275"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","slug":"law-enforcers-propagandists-among-candidates-for-house-of-representatives","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/57275\/","title":{"rendered":"Law enforcers, propagandists among candidates for House of Representatives"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>December 23, <em>Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> District election commissions in Minsk have registered 45 initiative groups to collect signatures for the nomination of candidates for the House of Representatives, the central election commission said.<br><br>In the capital city, contenders for the lower house include 24 non-partisan politicians, 13 members of the Bie\u0142aja Ru\u015b party that was registered this year, five members of the Communist Party of Belarus, two members of the Repub\u00adli\u00adcan Par\u00adty of Labor and Jus\u00adtice, and one member of the Liberal Democrat\u00adic Par\u00adty. All these alliances support the government.<br><br>Among famous names are Siarhiej Ra\u010dko\u016d, who heads the upper house&#8217;s committee on international affairs and national security, and MP Aleh Hajdukievi\u010d, who heads the LDP. Communist MP Siarhiej Kli\u0161evi\u010d, Bie\u0142aja Ru\u015b MP Vasil Panasiuk, and independents Maryna Lan\u010de\u016dskaja and Ivan Hardziej\u010dyk are also planning to run.<br><br>Others are Hienad\u017a Lapie\u0161ka, head of the Military Academy; Ihar Pa\u0161ko\u016d, chief of staff of the Ministry of Internal Affairs; An\u017ealika Kur\u010dak, spokeswoman for the Prosecutor General&#8217;s Office; and Alaksandar Barsuko\u016d, an aide to Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka.<br><br>The contenders also include propagandists and TV personalities such as Via\u010das\u0142a\u016d Dani\u0142ovi\u010d, rector of the Academy of Public Administration, National Library CEO Vadzim Hihin, and Alaksandar \u0160pako\u016dski from the Belarusian embassy in Russia.<br><br>Another notable is D\u017amitryj \u0160a\u016dco\u016d, secretary general of the Belarusian Red Cross (BRC). The single day of voting is scheduled for February 25. The first session of the All-Belarusian People&#8217;s Assembly in the new status will be held within 60 days after the elections.<br><br>Human rights activists say the government is set to control all stages of the elections.<br><br>The country has not held a single free and fair election by the standards of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe since 1996.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>December 23, Pozirk.
