December 25, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) expects the Belarusian economy to grow by 3.9 percent in 2023, its recent weekly macroeconomic report says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian gross domestic product (GDP) rose by 3.8 percent in the first eleven months of 2023 due to contributions from the industry sector where output jumped by 7.9 percent year on year, the analysts noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Domestic demand spurred the economy this year as investments grew by 13.9 percent and retail trade, by 8.2 percent, the EDB said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian economy amounted to 198.1 billion rubels (over $60 billion at the current exchange rate) in January-November, growing by 3.8 percent year on year after a 4.7 percent drop in 2022, the National Statistics Committee (Bie\u0142stat) said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the key economic forecast parameters approved by Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka for 2023, GDP should grow by 3.8 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development expected \u201ca GDP decline of 1.0 per cent\u201d in Belarus in 2023, \u201cfollowed by a modest recovery in 2024, with growth of 1.3 per cent, subject to significant downside risks.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fitch Ratings expected \u201cfurther recession\u201d with Belarus\u2019 GDP falling by 1.3 percent in 2023 and by 0.3 percent in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The World Bank forecast in the spring that the Belarusian economy would grow by 0.6 percent this year. However, in the fall it raised its forecast to 3 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experts expect Belarus\u2019 GDP to grow by 0.8 percent in 2024 and by 0.7 percent in 2025.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
