January 3, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The intensive movements of troops across Belarus and western Russia in the first half of 2023 did not result in the formation of attack groups, says an annual report by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, Minsk and Moscow continued close military cooperation with joint drills and deployment of Russian aircraft to Belarus, while Russian troops and mercenaries trained in Belarus for combat operations in eastern Ukraine, it noted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ukrainian military kept fortifying its Northern Operational Zone, which runs along the border with Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It reportedly added engineering equipment and barriers to the defense lines, boosted the density of mine barriers along the shared border with Belarus 16-fold, installed non-explosive barriers and prepared bridges and roads for potential demolition. Since June 2022, more than 500,000 anti-tank mines have been planted to block the routes of approach from the north and northeast, the report stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
