On December 28, a judge in Mahilo\u016d convicted him in another trial for social media comments, but the sentence is unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The interior ministry&#8217;s organized crime unit said it arrested an administrator of the <em>DS Grushevskyi Kvartal<\/em> Telegram chat, in which participants posted &#8220;protest comments.&#8221; The arrested woman reportedly works at a real estate agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Teresa Dam\u017ealskaja, Ivan Test, Safija \u0160kadovi\u010d and Volha Fiedzik were tried in Lida for sharing opposition content, a Telegram channel monitoring politically-motivated persecution in Hrodna and the Hrodna region reported. The verdicts are unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Criminal proceedings<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Journalist and cameraman Alaksandar Zianko\u016d will go on trial in Minsk on January 12 on charges of forming an extremist group, <em>Pozirk<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On December 6, a judge in Brest sentenced railway worker Maksim Kronda to one year in prison for alleged online abuse directed at Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported. Human Rights groups consider him a political prisoner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other instances of persecution<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Operational and Analytical Center (OAC), a Belarusian agency in charge of information security, removed the baj.by domain name from the Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAJ) citing alleged violations, <em>Pozirk<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Information Minister U\u0142adzimir Pierca\u016d ordered authorities to block access to <em>1pinsk.by<\/em> for users in Belarus and abroad, the BAJ said. Earlier, authorities blacklisted it as extremist content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of January 4, human rights defenders identified at least 1,430 political prisoners but the real number is considerably higher because many cases go undocumented.
