Filimona\u016d had worked in the energy sector after graduating from Belarusian Polytechnic Institute in 1980.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since August 10, 2020, Babovi\u010d had served as deputy CEO of the state-owned Bie\u0142enierha group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On December 29, the government sacked 68-year-old Deputy Energy Minister Michai\u0142 Michadziuk, who directly supervised the plant&#8217;s operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michadziuk had held the post since 2005.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Belarus completed its only nuclear plant in the fall of 2023. The general contractor was Rosatom, the Russian state nuclear corporation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The plant\u2019s Unit 1 has supplied electricity to the grid since November 2020, and Unit 2 since May 2023. The units began commercial operation in June 2021 and November 2023, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u0141uka\u0161enka has repeatedly said he was considering building a second nuclear power plant in the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>January 4, Pozirk.
