January 5, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The Belarusian Ministry of Information has included Novy \u010cas, <\/em>a news and analysis website, and its social media in the national list of “extremist content.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In doing so, it complied with a December 22 ruling by Minsk’s Central District Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One year earlier, the ministry had banned Novy \u010cas<\/em>‘ Telegram channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded in 2002, Novy \u010cas<\/em> came out in print until August 2021. In October of that year, Belarus blocked the Novychas.by<\/em> site. The mirror site Novychas.online<\/em> is accessible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the 2020 presidential election, Belarusian authorities launched a campaign to eliminate and ban independent media, which is still ongoing. The authorities have deprived dozens of national and regional media of the opportunity to operate in the national jurisdiction. Many of them are now in exile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
