In a police video, he admitted to participating in 2020 protests, displaying opposition symbols and sharing personal data of a police officer with an opposition online project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alaksandar Tysievi\u010d is under arrest in Brest for participating in 2020 protest rallies, <em>Mediazona<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trials<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On December 28, a judge in Viciebsk jailed Alaksandar Kor\u0161una\u016d for 10 days for following opposition content, the Viciebsk branch of the Viasna Human Rights Center said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A woman in Lida, Hrodna region, was fined 1,100 rubels (about $350) on December 26 for posting a picture with the white-red-white flag on Odnoklassniki, the <em>Pravo Imeyut<\/em> Telegram channel said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since December 22, at least 10 trials have taken place in the Hrodna region on charges of sharing opposition content, the same channel said. Andrej Ka\u0142amejc and Andrej \u017dmyre\u0144 were among those persecuted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Criminal proceedings<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On December 6, a judge in Minsk sentenced Mikita Novik to two and a half years of restricted freedom in home confinement after he had been identified on a picture from a protest rally, Viasna reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alaksandar Ja\u0161kin, a software engineer from Hrodna, was given four years in prison on five charges, including financing extremism and insulting Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka, Viasna said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jailed Alaksandar Sihinievi\u010d is awaiting a new trial, the <em>Sudy, Zaderzhaniya. Grodno i Oblast<\/em> Telegram channel reported. Charges against him range from insulting a public official to inciting hatred. Earlier, he had been convicted twice on protest-related charges. Rights groups consider him a political prisoner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other instances of persecution<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ta\u0107ciana Seviaryniec, mother of prominent jailed opposition politician Pavie\u0142 Seviaryniec, was hospitalized with high blood pressure after her arrest on January 9, her daughter Hanna said on Facebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Authorities have forced about 10 private language schools teaching Polish to close down, <em>Pozirk<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On January 8, police searched the home of exiled activist Alaksiej Malino\u016dski, known as a participant in a strike at the Naftan oil refinery in 2020, Viasna said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of January 11, human rights defenders identified at least 1,420 political prisoners but the real number is considerably higher because many cases go undocumented.
