{"id":6082,"date":"2023-10-17T19:50:02","date_gmt":"2023-10-17T16:50:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/?post_type=articles&#038;p=6082"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","slug":"rights-groups-designate-14-as-political-prisoners","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/6082\/","title":{"rendered":"Rights groups designate 14 as political prisoners"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>October 17, <em>Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarusian human rights groups have listed 14 more people as political prisoners, bringing the total to 1,487, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Five of them \u2013 Natalla Malec, D\u017amitryj Sielviestruk, D\u017amitryj \u015avi\u010dkaro\u016d, Siarhiej Mazol, and Alesia Lancevi\u010d \u2013 were convicted of extremism funding. Lancevi\u010d was also found guilty of insulting a public official and Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The activists also named Ihar Ciapcieje\u016d, Viktar Hry\u0144ko, Juryj Nie\u015bciarenka, U\u0142adzimir Savielje\u016d and Ihar Cika\u010d, who were convicted of crimes such as insulting \u0141uka\u0161enka and financing and facilitating extremism. The men were arrested in October 2022 for hanging the Belarusian historical flag and the Ukrainian flag on a power pole in Minsk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The status of political prisoners was also granted to Natalla \u0160aramietava, Kaciaryna Bruchanava, Alaksandar Koval and Ja\u016dhien Horma\u0161.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Human rights organizations reit\u00ader\u00adat\u00aded their demand that all polit\u00adi\u00adcal pris\u00adon\u00aders be freed, polit\u00adi\u00adcal\u00adly moti\u00advat\u00aded sen\u00adtences be reviewed and reprisals be stopped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides Vias\u00adna, the dec\u00adla\u00adra\u00adtion was signed by Lawtrend, the Barys Zvozska\u016d Human Rights House, Human Constanta, the Office for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and the Belarusian Helsinki Committee.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>October 17, Pozirk.
