January 15, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) has reported the arrest of a Belarusian national on suspicions of preparing sabotage acts for Russian military intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The alleged saboteur from the Russian Wagner Group was arrested while installing GPS trackers on power lines supplying electricity to Kyiv to facilitate Russian attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2014-2017, the arrested had been fighting on the Russian side in Ukraine’s breakaway regions of Donetsk and Luhanks, the SBU said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February 2022, he joined Russian Wagner mercenaries and participated in the attack on Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon his return to Belarus, Russian military intelligence might have instructed him to sneak into Ukraine’s Rivne region to coordinate Russian air attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SBU said it uncovered these plans while the suspect was still in Belarus and kept following him in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
