January 19, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> On January 29, the Minsk City Court will start hearing a case against Alaksandar Ciare\u0161\u010danka, a former employee of the National Bank of Belarus, the Viasna Human Rights Center reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Investigators accused him of financing extremism but have not disclosed any further details. Law enforcers usually bring extremism financing charges against Belarusians donating to solidary and opposition initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Judge Siarhiej Kacer will preside over the proceedings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, a state-run TV channel showed a video of Ciare\u0161\u010danka admitting to participating in protests and commenting on the presidential 2020 election and the COVID-19 pandemic on social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
