January 21, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The leaders of Poland, the Baltic states and Ukraine have a stake in “increased militarization” and are at the forefront of the United States’ “destructive policy,” Belarus’ top security official Alaksandar Valfovi\u010d said yesterday on the “Top Question” program on the Belarus 1<\/em> television channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Sabotage and reconnaissance groups and illegal armed units are being prepared in these countries. They consist of fugitives from Russia and Belarus \u2013 all sorts of criminals, because normal people will not join them,” the Security Council head said. “They are being trained to kill, sabotage and fight in adjacent countries to overthrow their authorities by unconstitutional means.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Polish and Baltic leaders are encouraging this, preparing this, openly declaring: ‘We are preparing chor\u0105gwie [historical Polish military units] and combat cells’ to send them, to Belarus, among other places, and to carry out a democratic overthrow of the government, as they call it,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Valfovi\u010d, the Belarusian security services “track this information” and the government knows everything about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We know where these so-called chor\u0105gwie are prepared, their lineups, their members, and we have lists of these individuals. Therefore, we are certainly taking and developing appropriate measures to neutralize these threats to our security, to our country. And the mechanisms for their neutralization are laid out in such conceptual documents as the National Security Concept and the new draft Military Doctrine,” the security chief said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus’ neighbors have never publicly declared their policies in the way Valfovi\u010d presents them. In May, former Polish Deputy Defense Minister Waldemar Skrzypczak, who has not held public office for years, said Belarusians should be supported in the event of an armed uprising. \u0141uka\u0161enka called the retired general “sick” and noted that his security forces were prepared for “another rebellion.” The foreign ministry threatened “militants and extremists” with harsh measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the summer of 2023, the government allowed Russia’s Wagner mercenaries, known for their brutal operations in Syria and Ukraine, to set up a camp in Belarus.
