January 23, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Authorities have arrested the wife of imprisoned social democrat Mika\u0142aj Statkievi\u010d, Maryna Adamovi\u010d, Na\u0161a Niva<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, the Committee for State Security and probably other law-enforcement agencies carried out raids to arrest relatives of political prisoners and former political prisoners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Security forces searched at least 60 people, the Viasna Human Rights Center said. It is unclear how many were arrested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Human rights activists said some of the arrests were linked to IneedHelp, a group that helps repression victims with food. The government declared the group extremist on January 23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has not yet announced the charges against Adamovi\u010d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On January 9, she said on Facebook that she had not received any information about her husband for 11 months. On the same day, it was reported that Statkievi\u010d was placed in the penal colony’s internal prison (PKT).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The colony\u2019s administration repeatedly subjected Statkievi\u010d to disciplinary sanctions last year, according to ByPol, an association of former law enforcers. In addition, authorities collected \u201cevidence\u201d to charge him with malicious disobedience and add at least six months to his current sentence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plainclothes officers arrested the Narodnaja Hramada leader in Minsk on May 31, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In December 2021, a judge sentenced him to 14 years in a maximum-security colony for allegedly organizing mass riots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, prison authorities placed him in a punishment cell after labeling him as \u201cprone to extremism.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was also added to the interior ministry\u2019s list of extremists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
