{"id":63399,"date":"2024-01-26T19:25:32","date_gmt":"2024-01-26T16:25:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/?post_type=articles&#038;p=63399"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","slug":"no-illegal-belarus-eu-border-crossings-reported-on-january-25","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/63399\/","title":{"rendered":"No illegal Belarus-EU border crossings reported on January 25"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>January 26, <em>Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The European Union (EU) did not record any attempts to illegally cross into its territory from Belarus over the past day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the 10th time this month that the EU registered no border violations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the start of 2024, the EU thwarted 89 illegal border crossings on its shared border with Belarus, with 80 attempts via Poland; five and four attempts via Latvia and Lithuania, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2023, illegal border crossings between Belarus and the EU soared by 32 percent with at least 42,078 attempts of which 25,571 via Poland, 13,863 via Latvia and 2,644 via Lithuania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Pozirk<\/em>\u2019s analysis of daily stats indicated fluctuated tension at the Belarusian-EU border throughout 2023 with a significant decrease by the end of the year and in early 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The migration crisis at the Belarusian-EU border started in spring 2021 after Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka, angered by EU sanctions, had indicated that Minsk would not prevent migrants from Africa and Asia from using Belarus as a route to the EU. It escalated in November 2021, with hundreds of migrants storming the Polish border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Baltic states and Poland accused Belarusian authorities of creating the trouble, while the latter blamed it on the West.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In August 2023, the interior ministers of Poland and the Baltic States warned that they would close the border with Belarus in case of a surge in illegal migration.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>January 26, Pozirk.
