January 29, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarus and Russia “have not completely solved the key issues of creating common gas, oil, and oil products markets,” Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka told the Union State Supreme Council in St. Petersburg, TASS<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, \u0141uka\u0161enka said that the common energy market was one of the key issues that Moscow and Minsk should resolve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the Supreme Council, he also said it was necessary “to eliminate everything that hinders reciprocal deliveries of goods, to level the operating conditions for enterprises, to eliminate the barriers in state procurement, and to remove the restrictions on transit of goods.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking about the shipment of Belarusian exports via Russian ports, \u0141uka\u0161enka mentioned proposals to increase the capacity of the October Railway to St. Petersburg. “Millions of tons of Belarusian cargoes have been redirected from Baltic ports to St. Petersburg, Murmansk and Black Sea ports. But there is tension.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141uka\u0161enka noted that he and Putin had decided that “the October Railway in the direction of St. Petersburg should work more intensively. At the first stage, it needs a little money and a little work to restore junctions.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said that in 2023 Belarus and Russia had broken a historical record of trade in goods and services. Trade is expected to reach $54 billion for the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In October, Belarusian Transport Minister Alaksiej Lachnovi\u010d announced a significant increase in cargo traffic via Russian ports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We work with 20 ports in Russia,” he told the ONT<\/em> TV channel in an interview. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transshipments rose to 8.5 million tons in the first eight months of 2023 from 6.1 million tons in 2022. Goods were transported primarily via ports in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad province, which accounted for up to 80 percent of traffic, he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
