February 1, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Lithuania has revoked the residence permit from Alaksandar Macijevi\u010d, a former Belarusian police officer, Delfi<\/a><\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It quoted Paulius Saudargas, deputy speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas, as calling incoming Belarusians a problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus is ruled by a dictator and stuffed with security services, Saudargas said. Minsk could set up a network of agents, and Lithuanian intelligence and migration authorities would have difficulties identifying them. One day, Lithuania might face a serious security threat if there were hundreds and thousands, he concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Macijevi\u010d, who allegedly participated in reprisals when serving in the interior ministry and then moved abroad, has urgently fled Lithuania together with his wife after being exposed, BelPol reported<\/a> earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A native of Dziat\u0142ava, Hrodna region, Macijevi\u010d had served in the police since 2010 and held the rank of major. In 2020, he participated in the crackdown on peaceful protesters and even acted as a \u201cvictim\u201d in a criminal case targeting protest participants, BelPol said on January 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The man moved to Lithuania with his wife and reportedly worked as a window installer. BelPol shared its evidence with Lithuanian investigators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Evelina Gudzinskait\u0117 of Lithuania\u2019s migration department told LRT<\/em> that the case was under investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former policeman told Lithuanian journalists that he planned to come back, but would not appeal a deportation order. He refused to comment on his past.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
