{"id":6523,"date":"2023-10-19T12:45:21","date_gmt":"2023-10-19T09:45:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/?post_type=articles&#038;p=6523"},"modified":"2026-03-10T12:05:06","modified_gmt":"2026-03-10T12:05:06","slug":"belarus-suspends-conventional-armed-forces-treaty-with-poland-czechia","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/6523\/","title":{"rendered":"Belarus suspends conventional armed forces treaty with Poland, Czechia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>October 19, <em>Pozirk. <\/em><\/strong>Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka approved the suspension of Belarus&#8217; commitments under the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE) with regard to Poland and the Czech Republic, says a document published on the National Legal Internet Portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both chambers of the National Assembly approved the corresponding bill on September 19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the new law, Belarus renounced its legal obligation to allow inspections of its conventional arms and equipment and to exchange information on military capabilities with both countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Czechia suspended cooperation with Belarus under the CFE Treaty in August 2022 and Poland in March 2023 over Minsk&#8217;s complicity in Russia&#8217;s war on Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Signed in the last years of the Cold War, the CFE Treaty is designed to ensure transparency of conventional weapons and armed forces in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Russia withdrew from it in 2023, citing a confrontation with the West. Belarus remains a party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the CFE Treaty, Belarus can have no more than 1,800 tanks, 2,800 armored combat vehicles, 1,615 artillery systems, 294 combat aircraft and 80 attack helicopters. In reality, it has never had such a capability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2023 Military Strength Ranking compiled by Global Firepower says that Minsk has 105 jet fighters and attack aircraft, 60 helicopters, 862 tanks and 1,071 artillery systems.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>October 19, Pozirk.
