February 9, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Lithuania has banned former Belarusian policeman Alaksandar Macijevi\u010d from entering the country, a spokesman for a Lithuanian migration department official told BNS<\/em>, citing security concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Macijevi\u010d and his wife fled the Baltic country on January 31, according to the BelPol resistance group. The take off followed reports of his involvement in political reprisals in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BelPol said Macijevi\u010d had served in the police since 2010 and held the rank of major. In 2020, he participated in the crackdown on peaceful protesters and even acted as a \u201cvictim\u201d in a criminal case targeting protest participants, it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The man moved to Lithuania with his wife and reportedly worked as a window installer. BelPol shared its evidence with Lithuanian investigators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Macijevi\u010d said he planned to \u201ckeep coming to Lithuania\u201d but would not appeal a deportation order. He refused to comment on his past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On February 1, Delfi<\/em> reported that Lithuania revoked Macijevi\u010d\u2019s residence permit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
