{"id":66199,"date":"2024-02-10T15:03:26","date_gmt":"2024-02-10T12:03:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/?post_type=articles&#038;p=66199"},"modified":"2026-03-10T12:05:06","modified_gmt":"2026-03-10T12:05:06","slug":"government-to-choose-between-economic-growth-and-curbing-inflation-in-2024-expert","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/66199\/","title":{"rendered":"Government to choose between growth, curbing inflation in 2024 \u2013 expert"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>February 10, <em>Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong>  Heavy government controls contained prices in January, Anastasija \u0141uzhina of the BEROC think tank told <em>Pozirk<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inflation of 0.8 percent recorded last month is typical for the start of the year, the expert said,  noting that food prices climbed 6.9 percent year on year in contrast to non-food prices which rose by 3.1 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Accelerated inflation trends recorded in late 2023 may persist if the government &#8220;continues to pursue a soft economic policy with low lending rates and a lax fiscal policy,&#8221; she noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inflation may reach 9 percent by the end of 2024 should the government aim for a 3.8-percent gross domestic product (GDP) growth in 2024, the expert said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inflation trends mostly depend on the government&#8217;s economic policies, but risks of accelerated inflation exist even with price controls, \u0141uzhina noted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government is set to keep inflation under 6 percent in 2024 while the gross domestic product is expected to grow by 3.8 percent.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>February 10, Pozirk.
