February 12, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> An online state marketplace has launched an auction to sell the apartment and parking space of Valeryj Capka\u0142a, a statesman who planned to challenge Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka in the 2020 presidential election before fleeing the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 103.7-square-meter Minsk apartment was seized by investigators, according to the marketplace Bie\u0142JurZabie\u015bpia\u010de\u0144nie, commonly known by its Russian name BelYurObespecheniye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In April 2023, Judge Siarhiej Jepicha\u016d sentenced Capka\u0142a to 17 years in prison without the defendant being present at the trial, finding him guilty of extremism and other alleged crimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In July 2023, the state auctioned the apartment of opposition leaders \u015aviat\u0142ana and Siarhiej Cichano\u016dski.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The property of banker-turned-politician Viktar Babaryka was sold in 2021\u20132023. Authorities auctioned off his Ford Fiesta, an optical sight and a collection of watches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former presidential hopefuls Siarhiej Cichano\u016dski and Viktar Babaryka are serving prison sentences for reasons believed to be politically motivated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
