February 13, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The Czech foreign ministry supports the extension of a ban on issuing national visas and residence permits to Belarusian and Russian nationals, forum24.cz<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ban, valid until March 31, was introduced in 2022 following Russia’s attack on Ukraine with the support of Belarus’ authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The foreign ministry is reportedly asking the government to extend the ban indefinitely. It would not apply to the current holders of the Czech residence permits, as well as family members of Czech or European Union’s nationals applying for short-term visas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The foreign ministry may grant exemptions from the ban for national visa or residence permits applicants if their stay is in the interests of the Czech Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The regulation does not affect applications for long-term residence permit submitted by Belarusian students enrolled in Czech universities and receiving Czech, EU or international organizations’ scholarships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
