February 13, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The Ukrainian government has allocated 900 million hryvnias (about $24 million) to continue strengthening protections in the Rivne region bordering Belarus, the regional government said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2023, five municipalities in the Rivne region received subsidies to build anti-tank ditches and purchase fortification barriers, Oleksandr Koval in charge of the Rivne regional military administration told journalists. This year, authorities plan to continue strengthening border protection, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The border between Belarus and Ukraine extends to 1,084 km, of which 758 km run on land, 326 km along the rivers and about 120 km in the Chernobyl exclusion zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, the Rivne region’s government announced that its 229-km long border with Belarus had been mined and protected with two defense lines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February 2022, Russia started a full-scale war against Ukraine in which the Belarusian authorities supported the Kremlin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
