February 15, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Real disposable income (adjusted for inflation) in 2023 increased by 6.3 percent year on year, the National Statistics Committee (Bie\u0142stat) reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wages accounted for 65.2 percent of the real disposable income; income from business and other revenue-producing activities, 8.2 percent; social income (pensions, benefits, scholarships, etc.), 22 percent; and property and other income, 4.6 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusians\u2019 real disposable income has been rising since April after falling in the first quarter of 2023. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2022, it dropped by 3.6 percent, although the authorities had expected a 2-percent increase. The decline occurred on the back of a 4.7 percent drop in gross domestic product, primarily caused by Western sanctions and the loss of the Ukrainian market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
