Relative to the size of the population, this repression is worse than during martial law in communist Poland, he said. He added that Russia and Belarus have more political prisoners than the Soviet Union under Leonid Brezhnev.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an interview with <em>Belsat TV<\/em> in May 2021, Sikorski, then a member of the European Parliament, compared repression in Belarus and in communist Poland, noting that &#8220;more people seem to have died during martial law.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than 100 opposition activists were killed in Poland when it was under martial law from December 1981 to July 1983.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>February 20, Pozirk.
