{"id":68936,"date":"2024-02-22T16:45:37","date_gmt":"2024-02-22T13:45:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/?post_type=articles&#038;p=68936"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","slug":"cichanouskaja-calls-on-osce-not-to-give-seats-to-belarus-appointed-lawmakers","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/68936\/","title":{"rendered":"Cichano\u016dskaja calls on OSCE not to give seats to Belarus&#8217; &#8220;appointed&#8221; lawmakers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>February 22, <em>Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja has called on the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe not to recognize the results of the upcoming parliamentary vote in her country, citing human rights violations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking in Vienna, she has argued against giving Belarus&#8217; &#8220;appointed&#8221; lawmakers seats in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, her advisor Franak Via\u010dorka told <em>Pozirk<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She told a friendship group at the OSCE Permanent Council about the recent death of Belarusian political prisoner Ihar Lednik and called on OSCE members to discuss the immediate release of prisoners at the United Nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Your diplomats in Minsk can demand access to prisons, especially to those who are held incommunicado, like my husband,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It\u2019s high time to issue the ultimatum to \u0141uka\u0161enka: devastating sanctions on the regime if you don\u2019t stop killing people,&#8221; she said. &#8220;Such regimes only understand the language of force, and we must show decisiveness and bravery.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, OSCE lawmakers opened a winter session in Vienna.
