February 25, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Belarus together with Russia is considering “different scenarios” to “resist any opponent,” Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka has told journalists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The current world is based on strength and one should not grow soft and start “fighting for democracy and some ephemeral freedom,” his press office quoted him as saying. “You have seen what kind of democracy they have. We need to keep an eye on our goals and our interests, be sincere and pursue fair policies.” These steps should ensure the unity of the Belarusian people, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141uka\u0161enka described the Union State of Russia and Belarus as an alliance of two independent countries. “Our economy is different in some respects, but we have preserved a lot, which Russia appreciates very much. We need to solve the issues we are facing evolutionarily, step by step,” he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian ruler also commented on Armenia’s decision to freeze its membership in the Russia-led Collective Security Treaty Organization. “Politicians in Yerevan need to wake up so they don’t lose what they have,” he said. “Small states don’t need to make unnecessary movements. I think Nikol [Pashinyan] made an emotional statement.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukraine has an “opportunity to reach an agreement,” \u0141uka\u0161enka said in a comment on the Russian-Ukrainian war.\u00a0“I see that Russians have set a course for a peaceful settlement of this issue.
