February 29, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> “I ask the government to increase funding for international programs in the field of promotion of the Russian language and our multinational culture. Of course, primarily in the Commonwealth of Independent States, but also globally,” Russian President Vladimir Putin told the Federal Assembly in an annual address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Putin specifically mentioned Belarus only once, when talking about plans to build a high-speed railway between Moscow and Minsk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The first route between Moscow and St Petersburg will pass through Tver and our ancient capital, Veliky Novgorod. Then we will build railway lines to Kazan and the Urals, Rostov-on-Don, the Black Sea coast, Minsk, brotherly Belarus, and other demanded destinations,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
