This is proved by statistics,&#8221; he said, as quoted by <em>SB. Belarus Segodnya<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mura\u0161o\u016d said that &#8220;overall, the events of the armed conflict in Ukraine have not affected conscription. It continues in a planned way, as before&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2014, he continued, the military has been signing contracts with both conscripted soldiers and citizens with a military background. &#8220;Everyone has a choice: to do compulsory military service in the barracks, or sign a 24-month contract before the draft call and stay at home.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;So the recent events have not only not frightened people, they have shown them that studying military science is really vital. And the whole military-political situation around Belarus now contributes to forming this worldview among people,&#8221; Mura\u0161o\u016d said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Belarusian government plans to increase &#8220;the contract army,&#8221; Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka said visiting the Kamianiec district, Brest region, on August 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We look closely at this experience in order to protect ourselves in the future. This is our only goal,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Belarusian Armed Forces have 65,000 personnel. The number of contract soldiers has not been disclosed. Several years ago, state media reported that 5,000 to 7,000 soldiers and sergeants had contracts with the military.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In February 2022, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine using Belarus&#8217; territory.
