{"id":71760,"date":"2024-03-07T21:52:19","date_gmt":"2024-03-07T18:52:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/71760\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","slug":"cichanouskaja-european-leaders-discuss-eu-policy-towards-belarus","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/71760\/","title":{"rendered":"Cichano\u016dskaja, European leaders discuss EU policy towards Belarus"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>March 7, <em>Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja has discussed the policy of the European Union and its member states toward Belarus on the sidelines of the European People&#8217;s Party congress in Bucharest, Cichano\u016dskaja&#8217;s top aide Franak Via\u010dorka told <em>Pozirk<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, she talked about the formats of cooperation between Belarusian democratic forces and Greek authorities, as well as the establishment of a parliamentary group for friendship with Belarusian pro-democracy forces. Mitsotakis invited her to visit Greece next month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cichano\u016dskaja thanked Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajanihim for his office continuing to issue visas to her compatriots, as Italy is the leader in the number of Schengen visas issued to Belarusians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They discussed the legalization of Belarusians in Italy, as well as assistance to political prisoners and their families. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cichano\u016dskaja suggested raising the Belarusian issue at the Group of Seven, currently chaired by Rome. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They also touched on the upcoming meeting of EU foreign ministers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also today, Cichano\u016dskaja had brief talks with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, the EU&#8217;s top diplomat Josep Borrell, European People&#8217;s Party leader Manfred Weber, Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar, Romanian Senate President Nicolae Ciuc\u0103, and Alberto N\u00fa\u00f1ez Feij\u00f3o, president of the Spanish People&#8217;s Party.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>March 7, Pozirk.
