March 8, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The official Union of Writers of Belarus (SPB) has received a Russian presidential administration grant to hold the literary festival Rus and Belarus Are One, SPB Minsk head Micha\u015b Pa\u017aniako\u016d told reporters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is another sign of Russian cultural expansion into Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The festival (Belarusian title: Ru\u015b i Bie\u0142aru\u015b Adzinaja) will open in Minsk on April 5 with the support of the Great Patriotic War Museum and other state organizations. Some of the events will be held in Russia’s Lipetsk and financed through a local writers’ union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded in 2005, SPB represents writers, critics and literary scholars loyal to the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Supreme Court dissolved the independent Union of Belarusian Writers in October 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
