March 10, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Ja\u016dhien \u0160astako\u016d, a Belarusian deputy foreign minister, has met with Masud Bin Momen, the foreign secretary of Bangladesh, to discuss discuss closer political and economic ties between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their meeting took place in Dhaka, where \u0160astako\u016d is staying until March 12, the Belarusian foreign ministry\u2019s press office reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The diplomats focused on “priority steps” to expand dialogue between Belarus and Bangladesh in various areas, including education, research, culture, tourism and cooperation within international organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In August 2023, Belarusian Foreign Minister Siarhiej Alejnik reportedly discussed potash fertilizer exports with Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The countries established diplomatic relations in 1992 and enacted a trade and economic agreement 20 years later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2021, bilateral trade rose to $177 million with Belarusian exports soaring by more than 70 percent to $149.8 million, and imports climbing by 4 percent to $27.2 million. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus sold potash fertilizers, dairy products, pulp, paper, steel sheets, insulated wires and cables, importing vegetables, fruit, textiles and clothing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
