March 11, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Ukraine’s Belarusian regiment named after Kastu\u015b Kalino\u016dski (PKK) has an aggregate strength of some 5,000 people, commander Dzianis Prochara\u016d told online.ua<\/em> in an interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the past two years, PKK fighters have transformed from ordinary civilians into professional soldiers who “know how to do their job in the best possible way,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusians have decided to stand up for Ukraine because they realize that “we have a common enemy,” the commander said. “The Russian empire will not dissolve on its own and the Russian Federation will never stop halfway.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“How soon Belarusians can return to their homeland depends on how quickly we can defeat the enemy,” said Prochara\u016d, who goes by his call sign Kit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, the PKK also has volunteers “from all over the world \u2013 Poles, Canadians and Frenchmen.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kastu\u015b Kalino\u016dski Regiment was formed in March 2022 and joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Two months later, it announced the formation of two battalions, Vo\u0142at and Terror. Later, it organized a battalion called Litvin, while Terror became a separate AFU unit outside the PKK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In September 2023, the regiment announced the formation of the Western battalion, which included “officers from NATO countries and foreign nationals with combat experience in Iraq and Afghanistan.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minsk opened a criminal investigation against the Kalino\u016dski regiment, designating it as an “extremist group.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Radyjo Svaboda<\/em>, about 450 Belarusian volunteers were fighting in Ukraine in July 2023, most of them in the PKK. The AFU is also supported by the Belarusian Volunteer Corps and individual Belarusian fighters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
