March 14, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Investigators in the Viciebsk region have opened a special procedure case against Ludmi\u0142a Barejka and Ihar Ka\u017amier\u010dak under Criminal Code articles often used to prosecute regime critics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Investigative Committee said Barejka was charged with defamation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was she who came up with the slogan “Stop the Cockroach,” which was widely used by Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka’s opponents during the 2020 presidential race and protests, according to rights activists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ka\u017amier\u010dak, a human rights defender and editor of the local website Orsha.eu<\/em>, was charged with facilitating extremism and insulting the head of state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, investigators in Hrodna opened a special procedure case against activist Siarhiej Vieramiejanka and journalist U\u0142adzimir Chilmanovi\u010d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
