{"id":7369,"date":"2023-10-23T14:01:52","date_gmt":"2023-10-23T11:01:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/?post_type=articles&#038;p=7369"},"modified":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","slug":"polish-prosecutors-investigating-death-of-two-migrants-at-poland-belarus-border","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/7369\/","title":{"rendered":"Polish prosecutors investigating death of two migrants at Poland-Belarus border"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>October 23, <em>Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>Polish prosecutors from Hajn\u00f3wka in the Podlaskie voivodship are investigating the death of two people whose bodies were found near the Polish-Belarusian border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The deceased were migrants who illegally entered Poland, Polskie Radio Bia\u0142ystok reported citing Jan Andrejczuk of the district prosecutor&#8217;s office in Hajn\u00f3wka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On October 22, Polish border patrol chased a group of foreigners who entered the country through a hole in the border fence in the Bia\u0142owie\u017ca Forest, reports say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of them died after being pulled out from a swamp. The victim, presumably from some African country, was exhausted and lightly dressed, Andrejczuk said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This morning, railroad guards have found the body of another young man near the village of Dobrowoda in the Hajn\u00f3wka district. Prosecutors believe that the deceased was of Middle Eastern origin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Polish Border Guard said that 169 foreigners tried to illegally cross the border from Belarus over the past day. Since the start of 2023, Poland has recorded at least 22,858 attempts by illegal migrants to enter its territory from Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The migration crisis at the Belarusian-EU border dates back to the spring of 2021. It escalated in November 2021, with thousands of migrants setting up a camp near the Polish border. The Baltic states and Poland accused Belarusian authorities of creating the trouble, while the latter blamed it on the West.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Migration figures had dropped significantly by the time Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, but have risen more recently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On August 28, interior ministers of Poland and the Baltic States agreed to close their borders with Belarus in case of a surge in illegal migration.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>October 23, Pozirk.
