April 1, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The 336th artillery brigade based in Asipovi\u010dy, Mahilo\u016d region, has been deployed for a command and staff drill as part of the ongoing comprehensive exercise, the defense ministry\u2019s press office reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian Armed Forces launched the exercise on March 11, calling up 5,000 reservists in response to NATO\u2019s Steadfast Defender, a multi-domain exercise taking place from late January to late May near Belarus\u2019 borders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gunners will prepare military equipment for use, move to designated areas and perform training and combat tasks, while units operating combat vehicles will improve their practical skills, the defense ministry said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On March 26, Defense Minister Viktar Chrenin announced that the combat-readiness exercise will be held annually, given the geopolitical situation around Belarus and the hostile rhetoric of neighboring countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the same day, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka inspected a tank battalion stationed in the Hrodna region\u2019s A\u0161miany district near the Lithuanian border, instructing the military and border guards to respond harshly to all border violations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He declared that Belarus and Russia do not intend to attack Western countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steadfast Defender involves 90,000 troops, including forces deployed from North America and other parts of the alliance to Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over several months, complex multi-domain operations will be conducted across thousands of kilometers, thereby enhancing civil-military cooperation and national and collective resilience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exercise is strategically located in several key European countries, including Finland, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden and the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
