April 2, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The Baranavi\u010dy District Court in the Brest Region has sentenced eight locals to prison on charges of disturbing public order, the Supreme Court reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The defendants allegedly participated in protest rallies in Baranavi\u010dy in August 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One was sentenced to three years in prison, another one to one year, and six others to two years. All pleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Supreme Court claimed that one of them was a convicted murderer and two were alcoholics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On March 6, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported that Alaksandar Lavon\u010dyk, Ja\u016dhien Cybulka, Jury Chavanski, Michai\u0142 Pietra\u0161, Filip \u015aciopin, Via\u010das\u0142a\u016d Baravik, Kry\u015bcina Dydy\u0161ka-\u010carka\u0161yna and Ivan Dydy\u0161ka went on trial in Baranavi\u010dy on similar charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
