April 3, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> U\u0142adzimir Maroza\u016d, CEO of the state-run Belarusian Railway, has discussed cargo transportation by container trains with Ju Guojiang, president of China Railway International, a subsidiary of China State Railway Group, at their meeting in Minsk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian official focused on cooperation within China\u2019s One Belt One Road infrastructure project launched in 2013 to boost trade among Europe, Central Asia and Africa, according to the Belarusian Railway website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sides also reportedly discussed increasing railroad capacity and conditions for deliveries of Belarusian goods by overland routes to China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some Belarusian pro-democracy forces lobby blocking the goods traffic to the European Union via Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A year ago, Pavie\u0142 \u0141atu\u0161ka of the opposition transition cabinet asked the EU authorities to punish Minsk with the same sanctions as Moscow, arguing that such a move would attract attention to Belarusian political prisoners. He also called for a complete halt of EU cargo traffic via Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
