April 10, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The situation at the border with Belarus is fully controlled and has not changed recently, said<\/a> Andriy Demchenko, a spokesman for Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We continue to build up our defense capabilities and reinforcements directly along the border, in terms of engineering,” Demchenko told the media today, according to a Belarusian translation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We understand that this sector is still endangered, because Belarus continues to support Russia in the war that the terrorist country unleashed against our state,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Fortunately, Russia does not have enough forces across the border to invade our territory. Russia gradually pulled back its units from Belarusian territory and has not deployed new ones during rotation,” Demchenko added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, “a number of Russian soldiers” do remain in Belarus, but they are mostly involved in maintenance and logistics. They are not “shock units that could become a threat,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“But let me reiterate that we continue to build up our defense capabilities along the entire border line with Belarus from the Volyn region to the Chernihiv region,” he added. These fortifications would allow Ukrainian defenders “to repel any attack if it happens,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
