October 25, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The European Union (EU) has not allowed at least 163 migrants to enter illegally from Belarus over the past day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lithuanian State Border Guard Service registered<\/a> 22 border violations while their Latvian colleagues thwarted 21 attempts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Polish Border Guard said<\/a> that 120 foreigners, including nationals of Algeria, Bangladesh and India, tried to illegally cross the border from Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the start of 2023, the EU has record\u00aded at least 37,454 attempts by ille\u00adgal migrants to enter its ter\u00adri\u00adto\u00adry from Belarus, with 23,025 attempts via Poland, 12,293 via Latvia and 2,136 via Lithuania. Ille\u00adgal migrants attempt\u00aded to cross the Belaru\u00adsian-EU bor\u00adder as many as 4,230 times in October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pozirk<\/em>\u2019s analy\u00adsis of dai\u00adly stats indi\u00adcat\u00aded grow\u00ading ten\u00adsion at the Belaru\u00adsian-EU bor\u00adder, with Latvia turn\u00ading into the prime tar\u00adget. Ille\u00adgal bor\u00adder cross\u00ading attempts peaked at 5,054 in July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The migra\u00adtion cri\u00adsis at the Belaru\u00adsian-EU bor\u00adder dates back to the spring of 2021. It esca\u00adlat\u00aded in Novem\u00adber 2021, with thou\u00adsands of migrants set\u00adting up a camp near the Pol\u00adish bor\u00adder. The Baltic states and Poland accused Belaru\u00adsian author\u00adi\u00adties of cre\u00adat\u00ading the trou\u00adble, while the lat\u00adter blamed it on the West.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Migra\u00adtion fig\u00adures had dropped sig\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcant\u00adly by the time Rus\u00adsia invad\u00aded Ukraine in Feb\u00adru\u00adary 2022, but have risen more recent\u00adly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
