September 16,\u00a0Pozirk.<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka said that he wants to boost political and economic ties with Mexico, as he congratulated his Mexican counterpart Andr\u00e9s Manuel L\u00f3pez Obrador on the country’s Independence Day, September 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141uka\u0161enka said in a message that Belarus is interested in “intensifying political, trade, economic, scientific and cultural ties with Mexico” and “expanding the contractual and legal base of bilateral relations,” according to his press office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said both countries have “a powerful production potential” and “developed industrial and agricultural sectors” that could benefit from closer cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus and Mexico established diplomatic relations in January 1992. Mexico has an honorary consulate in Minsk, while Belarus provides consular assistance at its embassy in Cuba. Eduardo Villegas Meg\u00edas, the Mexican ambassador to Russia, also serves as the part-time ambassador to Belarus.
